COLLEEN

There's a little girl
peeking 'round the edge of a curtain--every time she smiles
Full of youth like the smooth cool skin
of little girls
Her eyes hold the sharp candy bite of devilment
and her eyebrows give it all away
when they jump up laughing
When she walks into a room all the boys turn around
and fall down inside their bombshell skulls
and the electricity starts humming in the walls
They fluster up their silly feathers and have another shot
and swallow twice
A girl with daddy's eyes
and more than they can handle
